The idea of a Lake view villa for a couple of nights, deep in nature, with vegan and organic food and a range of soulful activities on site was the perfect symphony for our hearts. We came to Tri after some hectic days of exploration through the south coast of Sri Lanka and we needed some time off, so we could plug in again. The location could be any better, no city noise, only singing crickets and whispering birds giving life to the already energizing ambiance of the resort.
The first day was equally split in relaxation time by the infinity pool overlooking Koggala lake and a journey to the body and mind with a Yoga session at the studio, to reconnect and be grateful for the opportunity to experience such wonderful place. We took time to rest at our villa, falling asleep with the sounds of nature, as the following day would be full of wonders.
Early tones of dusk already painting the skies and we rush to the pool, as we didn’t want to miss the perfect reflections on the pool’s water. Birds flying high, a promise of a new start on the horizon and two happy souls enjoying the moment, this was one of our favorite sunrises in the country. As the sun was getting higher, our bellies needed to be nurtured with delicious healthy food and we can’t even describe how much we loved the cashew nut butter and the granola, topped with vegan coconut ice-cream, what a masterpiece!
On the afternoon, we were took on a lake boat trip, where we could see the immensity of Koggala lake, and how marvelous the surrounding natural landscape is, while enjoying a refreshing king coconut along the way.
The sun was getting ready to set and so were we, so as soon as we arrived to the little pier, we grabbed our camera and climbed the Water Tower, overlooking the whole property and the lake, with a majestic orange sky painting the frame. So many magical moments to count, from deep relaxing times, to delicious 6 course vegan meals and breathtaking views, and if we never reached climax, Tri took charge of that.
It was a short stay for us, but filled with many magical experiences to tell and re-live and one thing we bring with us, is the certainty of the incredible beneficial impacts of a conscious and ethical lifestyle, and we thank Tri for being a great role model in Ecotourism.
Tri’s ethical and sustainable commitment
The hotel’s philosophy inspires to a conscious minimal consumerism and promotion of green choices, in order to maintain the healthy sustainability of our planet.
Each villa has it own living green rooftop, where native creepers, water grass, beach purslane and dwarf bamboo were planted to methodically minimize erosion. The windows, doors and flooring are entirely made from recycled jak wood and other details on the exterior are well ornamented with cinnamon sticks, to blend buildings into the land and provide temperature regulation.
Tri is committed to reduce its carbon footprint annually and promote sustainable practices, which includes the thorough monitoring of water and electricity consumption, the use of solar panels and solar arrays to power the facilities and LED lightning, which is the best choice to limit the disturbance to the living fauna and flora.
This is a plastic-free hotel, where glass water bottles are provided at your room with free refills, toiletries are only available in refillable containers and plastic straws were fully replaced by their own bamboo crafted ones.
*Thank you Tri, for making the world a better a place and care about the future generations
